Influences
I find my inspiration from a variety of sources, but especially
from visual storytellers. Odilon Redon, Giotto, George Grosz,
children who make pictures, and the traditional folk artists of
Asia, America, Africa and the Pacific are my special artistic
heroes.
Materials
I grew up drawing pen and ink cartoons and book illustrations
and printing lithographs. But today I am involved in both color
and black and white imagery.
I still draw editorial cartoons using permanent felt-tip pens.
My paintings often combine various materials such as watercolors,
childrens’ crayons, colored pens and pencils, China markers
and even coffee or tea washes. I also use the computer as an electronic
paintbrush, creating pictures using a Macintosh computer and Adobe
Photoshop, Illustrator and Painter.
